Blouse Trial. Block & clay printed, overdyed with indigo in thin cotton voile
The "Indigo from Jaipur" collection is an artisanal masterpiece created by skilled textile masters. The blouse in the Trial pattern is a straight, roomy and easy-to-wear blouse sewn in airy cotton voile. The model fits everyone.
The pattern is block printed with clay and then overdyed with organic indigo - a masterpiece we love.
This is how the pattern and coloring are created, briefly step by step.
- Block printing with clay is done with chiseled wooden blocks that are pressed against the fabric.
The clay print creates reserve when overdyed with indigo. Dyeing parts of the fabric and leaving parts undyed with so-called reservations have existed for thousands of years.
- Overdyeing with organic indigo, where the leaves of the indigo plant are dried and then fermented takes place in deep wells with their own often secret recipes. A story of its own.
- Washing the print 2-3 times to remove the clay paste.
- Then the fabric is often dried directly on the hot ground in Jaipur.
