This is a super exclusive, deluxe item!

The Arashi (storm in Japanese) design has been developed by textile teacher, author, and curator, Yoshiko Wada together with the Aranya team. All sewing and organic indigo dyeing takes place at Aranya in the Cardamom Hills, Kerala.

Shibori is a batik technique that dates to 8th century Japan where indigo was most often used as the dye. At Aranya, the shibori technique has been learned from Japanese and American masters.

Dyed in organic indigo that is grown, fermented, and processed according to ancient traditions. The indigo plant is picked from the surrounding fields and prepared in a deep vat stirred regularly.

From inception to finished product, each stage in the process is a precise craft carried out by our friends in an airy facility nestled amongst tea fields in southern India.
