Natural Dyed Silk/Pashmina Shawl

Sale price1.450,00 kr

A unique shawl natural-dyed with plants, minerals, vegetables, and fungi.

This soft, hand-woven, silk and pashmina shawl is first made by our friends in the Himalayas and then specially dyed by Petra Holmberg in Stockholm. Petra has worked with and held workshops on natural dyeing for over 15 years. She beats, presses and folds plants, vegetables, minerals and fungi directly into the fabric. The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind textile - a wonderful, vibrant, portable firework.
Each shawl is accompanied by a description of all the materials used in its particular plant dying process.

Material: 50% silk and 50% merino wool from Himachal Pradesh in the Indian Himalayas

Size: 60 x 195 cm
Hem: 2 cm fringe
Origins: The yarn is hand-spun, hand-woven and naturally dyed in Himachal Pradesh under the direction of Ritika and Shaurya who run Marichiworld.

Production Time: 60 days (sheep wool - 50 days; silk cocoons, hand spinning - 2 days; natural dyeing - 1 day; weaving, finishing, fringe cutting, labelling - 2 days; plant dying in  Petras’s kitchen – 5 days)

Durability and care: Weaving and spinning by hand leads to the threads being wonderfully irregular – a work of the hand. Gently care for your new silk and wool garment, and you will have a friend for life. Begin by hanging it out to air. When necessary, wash by hand in cold water and mild soap, then hang dry.
