From Stockholm to the forbidden kingdom of Mustang

The flight from Pokhara to Mustang was cancelled the previous week due to a storm. The weather changes quickly here. Travelling by jeep to the remote area of Mustang takes around 12 hours. This was not an option for us. But we are lucky – the skies are clear.

High, snow-capped mountains and deep valleys. White, puffy clouds in an azure blue sky. We see small communities built stone by stone on green terraces and plateaus that are seemingly completely inaccessible. Everything is breathtaking.

What is life like in these isolated villages? Yaks, mountain goats – are we going to see herds of animals and wool making? Handcrafts – weaving, knitting – what will we see? We are on our way to the ancient Kingdom of Mustang on the border of Tibet.
